I have been cultivating the craft and technique of printmaking. While some projects lend themselves to digital output resulting in a large scale hard copy or a virtual presence on the internet, other projects require a more intimate process and the tactile quality of a hand pulled print. The physical act of pulling prints and generating multiples creates a pictograph establishing linear time especially clear when a series is displayed in entirety. This unfurled zig zag Codex is 59’long. The progression of visual change, made obvious by its length, delineates a revised calibration of time. When folded, as an unbound book its accordion shape becomes an artifact, a curiosity waiting to be unfurled.
I have always been fascinated by the visual ways communication is attempted and use repeated line and symbols to convey a direction or plan. I search for visual ques that convey meaning across divides more effectively than spoken or written words ever will.
